Job Description

Punch Press Operator  Pay: $23-24/HR DOE
A Punch Press Operator sets up and operates punch press machinery to cut, punch, form, and shape metal parts according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and production specifications.
Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate punch press machines and related equipment.

  • Load and position metal sheets, blanks, or components into the machine.

  • Select and install the appropriate dies, punches, and tooling.

  • Adjust machine settings such as stroke, pressure, speed, and alignment.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production specifications.

  • Inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

  • Perform quality checks to ensure parts meet required dimensions and tolerances.

  • Identify and correct machine or production issues when possible.

  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.

  • Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance.

  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.

  • Keep the work area clean and organized.

  • Meet production schedules and quality standards.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous experience operating a punch press, stamping press, or similar manufacturing equipment preferred.

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Basic knowledge of measuring instruments and metal fabrication processes.

  • Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/material-handle as required.

  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CNC or programmable punch presses.

  • Knowledge of metal fabrication and sheet-metal processes.

  • Ability to perform basic machine adjustments and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S practices.

Strong quality-control and problem-solving skills.
