Job Description

Now Hiring: Control Systems Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA

Advance Services is looking for a talented Control Systems Engineer in Cedar Rapids, IA to support a variety of industrial, manufacturing, and off-highway projects—perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, customer interaction, and building smart automated systems.

What You'll Do:

• Design and develop control systems for applications of varying complexity

• Evaluate system requirements and propose innovative, efficient solutions

• Design or modify electrical control enclosures and associated programs

• Work with PLC, PC-based, and motion control systems across multiple platforms

• Communicate directly with customers to understand needs, define scope, and support successful project delivery

• Contribute in a collaborative, team-oriented engineering environment

What We’re Looking For:

BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred
3+ years in industrial controls, automation, or system integration
Strong background in software design, programming, and control enclosure design
Knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70/70E and general safety systems
Experience with hydraulic circuits, UL508A, and PLC platforms (Rockwell SLC500? ControlLogix)
Familiarity with networking protocols: EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Modbus, CAN, etc.
Experience with CoDeSys, mobile PLC controllers, LabVIEW, PID tuning, motion control, and HMI development
Ability to support servo/multi-axis systems, data acquisition, and database configuration
Experience with AutoCAD or similar for schematic design and panel layouts

Great-To-Have Skills:

• Off-highway battery or drive system experience

• Exposure to robotics, telematics, or machine vision
