Tractor operator (1 position): May be working in unfavorable conditions, i.e., hot, humid, wet, dusty, etc. Tractor driving- The tractor operator is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection. Ensure all safety shields and covers are in the correct working order before using the equipment. Follow all indicated safety processes and practices, including wearing all required personal protective equipment. Secondary responsibilities include loading field sample totes, identifying and preparing trials for harvest, transporting harvest crew(at times but not required for hire) to the field, and harvesting plots if needed.
For the role of planter rider(1 position).
Responsibilities would include filling the planter while a tractor pulls it slowly across the field (>1 mph), assisting the team by packaging clam shells and seed with attention to detail, using track-and-trace technology to ensure proper compliance is met through data entry, and traveling off-site during planting/harvesting seasons. The position will focus on corn Yield Trial Staking, Emergence Counts, Plot Quality Ratings, and Plant and Ear Heights.
