Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Painting and Sandblasting Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and finishing surfaces using a variety of techniques, including sandblasting and applying paints, coatings, and finishes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial and commercial surfaces, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting or coating by performing sandblasting, including stripping old paint, rust, or contaminants from metal, concrete, and other materials.
- Operate sandblasting equipment and ensure proper technique to achieve desired finish.
- Mask and cover areas that should not be painted or blasted.
- Apply primers, paints, coatings, and finishes to surfaces using spray guns, brushes, or rollers.
- Inspect and assess surfaces before and after painting/sandblasting for quality control.
- Ensure all work meets industry standards and company specifications.
- Maintain and clean sandblasting and painting equipment, including proper storage of materials.
- Follow all safety guidelines, wearing protective gear (PPE), and ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
- Keep accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and job progress.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on time.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients to meet project goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in painting and sandblasting, preferably in industrial or commercial settings.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, sandblasting techniques, and coating applications.
- Ability to operate and maintain sandblasting and painting equipment safely.
- Familiarity with different types of paints, primers, and finishes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
- Basic math skills to measure and mix paints or materials accurately.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the use of protective gear (PPE).
- Certification in sandblasting or coating application.
- Experience with specialty coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, or other industrial finishes.
- Previous experience in working in construction, manufacturing, or shipbuilding industries.
- Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and indoor settings.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces or heights when required.
- Willingness to work in hot, cold, or dusty conditions.
