CNC Brake Press Operators
Overview:
- Responsible for setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) press brake machine to precisely bend sheet metal according to blueprints and specifications, ensuring high quality and accuracy by selecting the correct tooling, programming the machine, and performing quality checks on each part produced
Job Duties:
- Loading sheet metal into the press brake, selecting and positioning the appropriate tooling (dies and punches) based on the part design, and adjusting machine settings like pressure, angle, and back gauge position according to blueprints
- Inputting the required bend parameters into the CNC control system, including bend angles, sequence, and material thickness, to create the desired part geometry
- Performing in-process inspections using measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
- Accurately interpreting engineering drawings to determine the required bend angles, material type, and part dimensions
- Safely loading and unloading sheet metal from the machine, ensuring proper material alignment.
- Performing routine cleaning and lubrication of the press brake, identifying and reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
- Adhering to all safety procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any safety concerns
Job Requirements:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- CNC programming skills
- Blueprint reading
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- Previous Brake Press experience is preferred
